FAQ’S
How is shipping handled?
ans: To allow for the most cost effective shipping for our customers, we ship the basket and the pole separately. The basket is shipped via UPS and the pole is shipped with USPS. As a result they may arrive at slightly different times. We have found that using the 2 different carriers saves our customers an enormous amount of shipping costs.
What comes with it?
ans: The kit includes 1- basket with installed mesh , 1- forged and twisted square bar pole . Lifetime warranty on construction. Shipping included in purchase price.
How well does the mesh hold up?
ans: VERY WELL! In 10 years we have only had to replace mesh in 3 baskets! Well sell a lifetime mesh replacement for a one time fee (around $65 we don’t recommend buying it if you are not ready to replace the mesh) The mesh spacing prevents the build up of corrosive lye ash which is what eats the steel when it mixes with rain water. This “Eating” will not happen as the rain simply washes the ash out due to the mesh spacing. Essentially you do not have to clean the mesh out, ever, and any thing left over is burnable material for next use!
Will it rust and how do I care for them?
ans: Yes, even though our baskets are coated with A rust inhibitive flat black enamel they will, overtime, began to rust due to the fire, wearing some of the paint away. However, this is not a major concern as they are made out of really thick quality steel, and will last ages untreated. The buyer can simply spray paint it every year if they wish to maintain aesthetics but it is not necessary.
What do you burn in them?
ans: Traditionally the most efficient heat is given off by “fat wood” or resin soaked pine wood. But any wood can be used it will just have to be replenished more often and gives off more sparks. Some even soak their wood in kerosene to mimic the fat wood when it’s not available.
Were should I place them?
ans: An open area free from combustibles. A 10 ft radius is suggested as ash does fall from the basket while burning.
How long does shipping take?
ans: Typically you should receive your order within 5-7 days from the moment it is shipped in most areas of the country.
Do you wholesale your baskets?
ans: Yes! We wholesale all of our products at the Village Blacksmith. For fire baskets we require a minimum order of 25 with a 6 week lead time if they are not in stock. We also wholesale our other products which will have a minimum $ amount or a minimum order qty.
What if I want a different pole height?
ans: We can supply longer or shorter poles by request. Shipping may need to be added to account for any extra overage.
