    The Virginia Institute of Blacksmithing located in Wayesboro, Virginia is the only artistic blacksmithing trade school certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia. VIB offers beginning level weekend classes for hobby blacksmiths as well as a year long Certificate of Artistic Blacksmithing for those seeking to pursue a career in the field. VIB also offers weekend workshops in beginning bladesmithing and MIG welding. For more advanced students, there are annual week long intensive courses taught by visiting instructors from the States and abroad. www.LeeSauder.com -Lee is an excellent Blacksmith, sculptor and well known in the Blacksmith community for his work, research and publications on bloomery smelting of iron. He teaches classes all over the globe on smelting and other topics . He is one of the very talented smiths featured in the documentary video : " Ore to Axe" in which they take you on the journey of finding ore, making charcoal. building a furnace, smelting the ore to iron, converting the iron to steel, and finally forging the axe.
